Echoes from the Past was a community residency based at St Magnus Cathedral working alongside cathedral staff and women from the local community to explore the role of the cathedral during the Orkney witchcraft trials of the 16th till early 18th century. The project combined archival research into the 72 named women accused of witchcraft with present day collective memory around folk remedies and superstitions passed down within families. The final work brought all these elements of the past and present together in a site-specific sound installation within the cathedral.
